INFLUENSTER: STASH or PASS: MAYBELLINE DREAM WONDER FLUID-TOUCH FOUNDATION

Hello to all my Beauty Junkies & Junkettes! Being a beauty junkie although it's therapy it can almost be a curse because many times I collect items and end up not using it because I have so many products I forget what I have but the main reason I purchased new products often to test out and review is because I am a makeup artist and a beauty blogger. I get tons of questions daily about my recommendations and thoughts on products. I like that people trust and depend on me when it comes to the beauty world. So I decided to do a series of STASH or PASS product review posts to tell you my real thoughts. You all know I keeps it real on here and hardcore!

So my first STASH or PASS series will be on the new Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid Foundation and whether it's worthy of stashing or is it something I can pass on. Now remember this is just my opinion. What works for me may not work for you. But I will give you all the details and ingredients and you can decide for yourself. This product was purchased by me but this post is being sponsored by +Influenster.

Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid-Touch Foundaton is a liquid formula that is said to be a medium to full coverage foundation  I believe that this is a light to medium coverage. Medium could be pushing it slightly but you can get a pretty decent coverage with it. But full...HIGHLY likely even if you let it sit and layer it quite a few times you still wouldn't get a full coverage. That's totally fine because this is a GREAT everyday foundation in my opinion. This foundation has a feathery silky dry oil texture finish. I know the description may sound odd because normally when you think of oil dry is not the first thing that comes to mind but I'll explain later on in this post. I will say I've been hearing and reading that the Dream Wonder compares to Giorgio Armani Maestro Foundation . Actually it was inspired by Armani Maestro Foundation. And what many don't know is Loreal owns both Giorgio Armani & Maybelline so don't be surprised if this is the same foundation with a different packaging. I'm just saying. I'm all for supporting brands but I am trying to save you all some coins. YA HEARD!

You get a oily- silky texture but it dries into a nice satin finish. Not too matte, and not too oily. Although it looks pretty thick once you blend it out it sheers out.

Besides the shade difference this foundation is definitely not a full coverage. I had to do 3 layers to get this coverage. But I will say if it wasn't for the shade difference this foundation would be undetectable because it does mimic skin and the finish of skin. But what I did notice and this has a lot to do with the ingredients but this foundation smells like rubbing alcohol which explains why the foundation dries so fast.

Also the applicator was quite unique in shape and not only shape but fabrication. The applicator has a plastic like finish which is great because it doesn't hold bacteria. So you can easily sterilize. Also its impossible for it to soak up product because of the type of finish it is.

So that leads me to the INGREDIENTS. Awww don't huff and puff! This is the best part! You all know how I do it. On the Maybelline Foundation bottle it broke the ingredients down into Active Ingredients and Inactive Ingredients. Don't be confused although it should be self explanatory because of the word itself  it's still can be confusing and I think it's important to know what these terms are when dealing with the skin and body. So I will explain what

Active and Inactive ingredients are:
Active Ingredients are any components that provides direct effect in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment or prevention of disease, or to affect the structure or any function of the body of man or animals.

  1. According to www.drugs.com/inactive/ Inactive ingredients are components of a drug product that do not increase or affect the therapeutic action of the active ingredient, which is usually the active drug. Inactive ingredients are added during the manufacturing process of pharmaceutical products such as tablets, capsules, suppositories, and injections.
Let me sum all of this up for you basically active is the ingredient that is treating or preventing skin disease. It's like chemo to cancer. And inactive are like additives such as preservatives, color flavoring and things of that nature. But also know this some ingredients can go both ways depending on the use of the product. Example alcohol can be both active or inactive so it all varies. Ok back to the ingredients of the product.

Active Ingredients: 3% Octinoxate which is a form of chemical sunscreen that blocks both UVB and UVA sun rays

Inactive Ingredients: Dimethicone is a silicone oil skin protectant, cyclohexasiloxane is a silicon-based polymer that acts as a skin conditionerisododecane is a hydrocarbon solvent that enhances the spreadability of products and has a weightless feel on skin. Alcohol Denat is ethanol alcohol that has methanol or some other ingredient added to it to make it undrinkable so alcoholics won't drink it.

So I'm going to stop right here because I can go on all day with these ingredients but I'm not. I'll let you purchase and do the rest of the research but as you can see the ingredients I shared with you explains the function of this foundation and why it reacts to the skin the way it does, why it feels the way it does, and why you get almost that satin finish. These ingredients play a huge role in the texture and function of the foundation. Knowing or at least researching about the ingredients will save you a great amount of money especially if you google the ingredients while you are in the store. Ingredients are way more important than the brand and packaging.

These are recent photos in either natural lighting or a cool light setting. I don't want you all to think or say "OH that foundation is FULL COVERAGE" trust me it's not. I had to manipulate not only to match my skin but I added a bit more coverage in certain areas of my face. But the bulk of it is the Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid-Touch Foundation.

So is this a STASH or PASS???

I would definitely stash it. Even with the tweaking I think for me it's pretty decent. I have to tweak a lot of foundations even department store. So customizing is not an issue for me.

Have you tried this foundation? What are your thoughts? Talk to me I don't bite. OR DO I? :D

  1. I didn't realize that companies added an ingredient to products to keep alcoholics from drinking it, lol! I'm looking for a good drugstore foundation and usually use the Neutrogena Healthy Skin, but recently ran out. A friend gave me her Kat Von D, and even though the coverage is amazing...you can easily get cake-face. I'm not sure if this is what I'm looking for. What's your favorite drug store foundation?
