Happy Monday fam, I'm starting off the week with a review and today we're taking a look at the new Veil Cosmetics AutoMatte Mattifying Base which is a lightweight powderless mattifying skincare-infused base.

So let me first say, It's one thing to have glowy skin (I love glowy skin! If you followed me for a while that's all I talk about) but even for the driest skin, no one likes to look and feel oily.

And let's not get on the subject of touch-ups; most times when adding powder on to mattify your makeup if not done correctly you can see traces of it. It makes the makeup look cakeier and heavy. And on hot summer days that is not the business! Which is what inspired Sebastien Tardif, who is the CEO of Veil Cosmetics to create this product.

If you know anything about Veil Cosmetics they are all about skin perfection and all of their products are vegan-friendly and cruelty-free.

So let's get into the details on this product!

AutoMatte is a weightless Mattifying base that has multi-tasking benefits.
  • It's multi-use, you can apply to lips to prep and prime for a smoother application making your lipstick last longer.
  • It's a great mattifier with or without makeup
  • It's powderless & oil-free (which is what makes this unique)
  • It has Vitamin C and E which promotes collagen synthesis while brightening and clarifying the skin
  • It's Non-caking
  • It's 100% Vegan, Cruelty-free, paraben free & Oil-Free
  • It's perfect for photography & videos because it's HD approved

I was able to put this product to the test with and without makeup. Now 95% of the time I'm without makeup. I know it's hard to believe but as I get older I appreciate my skin far more than with makeup.  So here is a before and after side by side. You can see how it mattifies my skin and it's not cakey or you don't see transfer anywhere. It's very skin-like. Of course, throughout the day you may start to break into a glow but what makes this more efficient is the fact that it's easy to use, it's not cakey. You can apply this with their sponge which they supply a sponge in the compact. You can apply with your fingers or with a flat brush. I've tried all methods and personally for me I prefer the sponge. The sponge is reusable so you can clean the sponge as you do your beauty blender. When using the sponge I use the press and roll method. Some people dab it on but I feel that when pressing and rolling it gets into the skin and if you're wearing makeup this technique works more because I believe it locks the product into the skin and doesn't disturb the makeup. Wiping at it will remove your makeup and if you're dabbing at it I believe that it creates blotchiness. So I would suggest using the press and roll method with or without makeup.

Also if you look closely at the before & after this product instantly gives me a face-lift and a more slimmed effect which I sure don't mind that at all. Not that my face is sagging or anything but I love the instant face-lift effect.

If you know me I'm all about skincare and 95% of the time I'm not wearing makeup. So having something that not only keeps the oil at bay but helps improve the skin is A-1 with me. Overall for my skin type this is an amazing product and have included it in my routine. This wouldn't be a review if I didn't share this... If you have acne-prone skin or skin sensitivity to dimethicone then you may want to steer clear. Dimethicone doesn't clog the skin but because this is a product that cuts the shine what that mean is, it's trapping moisture, sebum, oil and possibly bacteria and if you possible have acne prone skin or some form of sensitivity to dimethicone if overly used in combination to not caring for the skin properly you may experience some form of sensitivity. If you decide to get it I will say use in moderation and make sure after every use you clean the skin thoroughly and whatever you do for your skin process.  This is an amazing product though and if you've used primers that contain this ingredient and haven't had issues then you good. Overall Veil Cosmetics Automatte does what it says it does. It is a weightless and natural option for mattifying the skin.
